This 3.5 hour-long Live Zoom class includes instruction, demonstration, and question + answer time. It will give you a good incite in how I use Pastel and how to make clean, positive, meaningful marks using an underpainting. You will learn composition, value, colour temperatures and how to interpret a photograph. How to develop your mark making skills to produce paintings full of light, energy and movement. We will discuss composition in depth and how to change photographs to make them a painting, NOT a copy of a photo

We will also cover Composition, Values, Colour Temperatures, Recession, Depth of Field and Movement.

Students will need, for each class:

  • Students will need  1 sheet of CANSON TOUCH  White.     Click here for source
  • Printouts of reference material. (sent to registered students)
  • A few pastel pencils or watercolour pencils for details

Pastel Colours

  • A Good selection of pastels, including light blues, turquoise, Ultramarine, Blue Greys, Dark Prussian Blues.
  • Grey Violet, Soft light warm yellow, Burnt Sienna, Red Browns,
  • Purples, purple Blue Greys. Very Dark Greens and Very Dark Browns
  • Soft and Hard Whites
  • Lilac

WaterColours or Inks

  • Good selection of watercolours or Inks to create an underpainting
  • Brushes, one 3/4 inch. and some smaller ones
  • MASKING FLUID
